Here is the next show that I have a piece in. Looks like its going to be a really good time!
Studio Gallery’s ‘Paint Out’ the 94109 Show.
My mission was to paint something in the 94109….Near the Studio Gallery. I chose the Bigfoot Lodge. Here is one of their light fixtures. The show opens Sunday June 2nd. And is only up for one week. Go check it out.
Make Your Art Your Business: Emerging Artist 101 Workshop (May 28th)
Artists say to me all the time ‘I need a manager to deal with selling my art. I just want to paint all day.’ It annoys me. As if artists are accepting the stereotype of flighty dreamers that are only put here to make art. They couldn’t possibly do the work side of things and sell and promote their art. This also bothers me because it plays into the ‘starving artist’ myth that has become so prevalent that our society sees it as the norm. “If you are going to be an artist you are going to either do graphic design or fail.” UGH.
In October 2013 I am quitting my job to become an artist, full time. I believe I can make it work. And my art is no better than anyone else’s.
Next Tuesday the 28th I will be conducting a workshop at SOMArts in SOMA for ARTSPAN. The workshop is entitled ‘Make Your Art Your Business: Emerging Artists 101′ and it will cover many of the things I have learned along the way. So if you are just starting out and want to know more about getting shows, selling art, keeping track of things….etc. Come to the workshop. It’s going to be really fun. Thanks.
‘Balancing Act’ Live Painting…
I had a tremendous amount of fun at the Connecticut Yankee last night….except for the two old ladies that made comments about my ‘portion control’ issues when I was eating. Whatever, I am sure that is more about them than it was me.
Here is the painting that I completed. It took about 4 hours. Thanks for all the folks who had nice things to say. Thanks to everyone that bought prints….and especially thanks to Jigsaw Night, the band that had invited me. I had a great time.
Live Painting at the Connecticut Yankee May 18th!
I have been asked to do some live painting on May 18th at the Connecticut Yankee bar in Portrero Hill! I am super excited and can’t wait to paint something cool….in front of a crowd. Yes it can be nerve racking….but some good food and good music will surely make it worth it. You should come check it out!!!

This was the last Live Painting I did..and it rocked!
Many things happening soon….
This is going to be a big year. I promise. It’s not like the last few years haven’t been big….It’s just that I have a lot of things brewing that are taking place this year. Right now I am lining up more art shows. I will be participating in STUDIO Gallery’s ‘Paint Out’, as well as a few other local shows. I have registered for ArtSpan’s Open Studios in October! And my friend Amy Moore and I are hopefully going to exhibit it the Renegade Craft Fair in December. Along the way I will also be producing another calendar for 2014!!! I am very excited as the next calendar will be sleeker, nicer, more high quality, and filled with some of my best artwork yet. Recently I also released a music CD of my original ukulele music! While I looked at this adventure as a side project….it is starting to be something I might do more of. So as you can see….I am busy! I am very excited about my year. Thanks for following along and supporting my art. Oh yeah….one last thing. I hope to be doing art full time by October! Woohoo! Take care.
